The project is carried out in a scientific consortium composed of:
- Wyższa Szkoła Policji w Szczytnie (lider)
- Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna im. Jarosława Dąbrowskiego
- Transition Technologies S.A.
As part of the project, a study will be carried out on the application of an innovative knowledge management technology (semantic technology), based on the use of controlled natural language, in modeling the situation of disappearances and the behavior of police officers in response to the event. The need constituting the basis for launching the research project is the lack of a central database for the analysis of previously conducted cases of missing persons. Currently, there is no possibility of a quick, systemic comparison and reference in current cases to earlier cases.
The aim of the project is to develop a ready-made, tested tool with a database for use by the Police, allowing the use of information in planning and coordinating all cases related to the search for missing persons. The creation of an innovative tool will make it possible to increase the effectiveness of the Police in finding missing persons and to support command and decision-making processes in search operations. The above IT solution will make it possible to analyze the phenomenon of missing people for research and police didactic purposes, and will also contribute to improving the working conditions of officers through access to specialist knowledge and technology.
